That the Parliament commemorates the 79th anniversary of the Clydebank Blitz; understands that the Luftwaffe air raids over the 13-14 March 1941 saw the town experience the worst devastation and civilian loss of life in all Scotland, with 528 deaths and 617 people seriously injured; notes that the raid targeted the John Brown shipyard, along with several substantial factories that were being used to manufacture munitions, which resulted in over 8,500 nearby houses being completely destroyed or severely damaged; acknowledges the role that the crew of the Polish destroyer, ORP Piorun, played in helping defend the town from the docks of the shipyard; remembers and pays respect to those killed and injured in the blitz, and commends Clydebank on retaining its commemoration of, and links to the events of the Second World War, such as the recognition of the Polish navy’s contribution through the annual laying of a wreath in Solidarity Square, and on its ongoing regeneration.

That the Parliament applauds the inspirational efforts of the Milngavie vet, Jo Neilson; understands that Jo is midway through a mammoth 183-mile run, equivalent to almost seven full marathons, to raise funds for the Scottish SPCA; notes that Jo, who is a senior vet with the charity, has taken on the challenge over 60 days to raise funds for the animal charity to coincide with its 180th anniversary; further notes that Jo has dedicated 10 years of her career to animal welfare in the charity sector and decided to take on the challenge as part of the anniversary celebrations and for all of her colleagues across the service who go above and beyond in their dedication to their roles, and wishes Jo well for completing the challenge.
