    Students from Duke University in North Carolina visited the Scottish Parliament on 7 November 2019. The group met with a Scottish Parliament official to discuss how the Parliament works with topics including; elections, legislation, the work of Committees and the role of MSPs. The students are part of an exchange programme between Duke University and Glasgow University.
  • Members of the Senate of the State of California
    Members of the Senate of the State of California visited the Scottish Parliament on 4-5 November 2019. The delegation met with MSPs and parliamentary staff to discuss topics including Brexit, climate change, parliamentary reform, committees and engagement.
  • Senior UK Desk Officer at the US State Department

    Senior UK Desk Officer at the US State Department, Katy Bondy and US Consulate in Edinburgh, Ellen Wong met with members of the Scottish Parliament Information Centre on Monday 21 October to discuss current political issues and parliamentary procedures.

  • House Democracy Partnership

    The Deputy Presiding Officer, Christine Grahame MSP met with a delegation from the US House Democracy Partnership (HDP) at the Scottish Parliament on Monday 6 August 2019. The HDP is a bipartisan commission of the US House of Representatives that works directly with partner countries around the world to support the development of effective, independent, and responsive legislative institutions.

    The Presiding Officer Ken Macintosh MSP welcomed the Principal Officer of the US Consulate in Edinburgh, Ellen Wong, to the Scottish Parliament on an official courtesy call on 15 May 2019.

    As part of the wider visit to the USA & Canada, Deputy Presiding Officer Linda Fabiana MSP and Liam McArthur MSP visited the Legislative Assembly of Ontario on 9 April 2019. The delegation met with the Speaker, Hon. Ted Arnott MPP and the Clerk, Todd Decker to discuss Chamber Business, provisions for Members, interparliamentary relations, internships and the Festival of Politics.

    Deputy Presiding Officer Linda Fabiani MSP and Liam McArthur MSP represented the Scottish Parliament during the 21st annual New York Tartan Day Parade on Saturday 6th April 2019

  • Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario

    The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, The Hon Ted Arnott MPP visited the Scottish Parliament on 13-14 March 2019. The Speaker met with the Presiding Officer, Liam McArthur MSP and Gail Ross MSP on Wednesday and then had further meetings with officials and other MSPs on Thursday, covering topics such as Security, Business Continuity, Events and Scotland's Futures Forum as well as watching Parliamentary business.

  • House of Assembly of the Turks and Caicos Islands

    Honourable Maxovonno Thomas AM and officials from the Public Accounts Committee of the House of Assembly of Turks & Caicos Islands visited the Scottish Parliament on Thursday 24 January. The delegation met with officials to discuss Committee inquiries and the work of Scottish Parliament Committees, before meeting Jenny Marra MSP, Bill Bowman MSP & Willie Coffey MSP for discussions on the work of the Public Audit & Post Legislative Scrutiny Committee
