The Committee agreed on 5 October 2016, as part of their work programme to receive regular updates from the Cabinet Secretary for the Rural Economy and Connectivity on Common Agriculture Policy (CAP).
The EU Common Agricultural Policy has two pillars. Pillar 1 provides direct payments to farmers and is fully funded by the EU. Pillar 2 supports rural development, is jointly funded by the EU, national governments and transfers from Pillar 1.
