That the Parliament congratulates One Dalkeith on receiving £80,000 from the National Lottery Medium Grants Scotland fund; understands that the funding will be used by the development trust to employ a volunteer coordinator to further shape and define the volunteering opportunities arising from the Trust's ongoing community activities, and also to undertake internal repairs to improve its venues general facilities; acknowledges that, over the next two years, 2,000 people will take part in the project and this will be supported by 80 volunteers; wishes One Dalkeith all the best going forward with the project, and appreciates the significant benefit that this will bring to Midlothian.

That the Parliament welcomes the initiative of People’s Energy for establishing a COVID-19 Community Fund in order to support its customers facing financial distress as a result of the current pandemic; notes that the Community Interest Company based in Midlothian has created the fund to help customers, such as Kenny Tomlinson, a musician from Edinburgh who it understands is unable to pay for energy bills due to a loss of livelihood brought about by COVID-19; understands that Kenny’s work has been cancelled until at least October, and that People’s Energy has added credit to his account as a means of providing short-term support; acknowledges that the fund is being supported by customers and employees at People’s Energy, and thanks People’s Energy for ensuring that the necessary support for energy consumers is in place during these difficult times.

That the Parliament congratulates One Dalkeith, a development trust made up of local residents, on receiving the go ahead to convert an empty retail space in the centre of Dalkeith into a long-term community facility, following several successful "pop-up" uses during 2019; understands that One Dalkeith is also pursuing opportunities to fund upgrades to the building; acknowledges that the space will be used to hold events and activities for the town after the lockdown and that this will provide an excellent community facility for Midlothian, and commends One Dalkeith for its work in securing a community facility for Midlothian and for its efforts in helping regenerate the centre of Dalkeith.

That the Parliament acknowledges Lasswade High School in Midlothian for producing a first batch of 35 protective visors and sending these to local care homes to help protect their staff and residents from COVID-19; understands that this fantastic effort was undertaken by the Creative Design faculty staff, and that they have plans to produce around 500 visors of this kind in the coming weeks, and thanks the staff from the school for this innovative use of their resources and skills in helping the community.
