That the Parliament acknowledges that 15 May 2020 is the 72nd anniversary of the Nakba, known by Palestinian people as the "day of catastrophe", in which the state of Israel was formed after what it understands was the mass eviction of over 750,000 people from historic Palestine land, which included the destruction of over 500 towns and villages; believes that this led to generations of pain for the Palestinian people, who continue to live under a state of occupation; understands that it led to a major crisis in which over four million displaced people were registered by the UN as refugees and unable to return home; condemns what it sees as the deepening of the crisis in the form of illegal settlements, which are not recognised by the international community; understands that these continue to be built in the occupied territories at a rate of five times that prior to the implementation of the Oslo Accords; further understands that the Israeli government has declared its plan to annexe areas of territories it occupied in June 1967 as part of its agreed Israeli coalition platform from 1 July 2020; believes that, on 15 May 2020, millions of people across Palestine and around the world will mark the anniversary of the Nakba, albeit not as in previous years, which saw people attend marches, rallies and vigils, due to the outbreak of COVID-19; supports Palestinian people across the world, including those living in the Glasgow Kelvin constituency, in the commemoration of the Nakba; notes the calls for a resolution to be sought to what it considers the Palestinian humanitarian crisis and occupation; condemns any action by the Israeli government to annexe areas of occupied Palestinian land, which it considers violates several UN Security Council Resolutions, including UNSCR 242 and 2334, and considers that the international community is duty bound to protect Palestinians under occupation.

That the Parliament acknowledges the outstanding contribution from Sikhs in Scotland in supporting communities across Scotland, including in the Glasgow Kelvin constituency, with the establishment of the Sikh Food Bank; understands that it has delivered over 20,000 meals across Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen, as well as food packs for families and individuals, which include a variety of essential groceries; notes that it is also offering to collect and deliver shopping for people shielding in the community; believes that the impact of this entirely voluntary contribution, which was initiated by Charandeep Singh, has ensured that many people, including key workers across the country's public services, are being supported; notes that the Sikh Food Bank also offers advice and support to those in hard-to-reach communities understand what they need to do in order to stay safe, through a multi-lingual interpretation service, and applauds and thanks everyone involved in the Sikh Food Bank who have mobilised and provided support during the COVID-19 outbreak.

That the Parliament notes the centenary of Glasgow’s first Poet Laureate and Scotland’s first Makar, Edwin Morgan, who was born in Glasgow on 27 April 1920; acknowledges his incredible body of work and contribution to the creative arts, which has encouraged and motivated generations of creative artists, including the makars, Liz Lochhead, Carol-Ann Duffy and Jackie Kay; notes Edwin’s undoubted love of Scotland, which emanates throughout his work, such as Sonnets from Scotland, and, in particular, for his hometown, where he worked at the University of Glasgow teaching literature and where he penned many poems illustrating the city, including The Starlings of George Square and A City; acknowledges Edwin's work, Open The Doors, which he wrote to celebrate the opening of the new Parliament building in 2004, and has the lines, "We give you this great building, don’t let your work and hope be other than great, when you enter and begin. So now begin. Open the doors and begin”; understands that centenary celebrations will take place to mark Edwin’s birth, albeit virtually; encourages everyone to celebrate his life’s work, and thanks him for leaving such a wonderful legacy.
