That the Parliament recognises the 200th anniversary of the Radical War; understands that this conflict was the result of the peoples’ dissatisfaction with a government that had left the population in poverty after the Napoleonic wars; recognises that previous years of unrest culminated in the demands for reform and the national strikes during the first week of April 1820, including numerous strikes demanding the closure of cotton mills in Renfrewshire; believes that a government network of spies was used to bring the uprising to a head in order to flush out and prosecute its leaders; understands that this resulted in show trials, one of which was held in Paisley, which used English treason laws, despite such legislation having no foundation in Scots law; appreciates that the radicals were found not guilty, which brought an end to their persecution; regrets however that people whom it considers had high aspirations for equality, solidarity and the drive to end poverty were wronged and challenged in such a way, and notes the view that a remembrance of their efforts should be recognised.

That the Parliament applauds the Renfrewshire Council initiative, Team Up to Clean Up, on its success at the 2019 COSLA Excellence Awards, at which it won the Strong and Sustainable Communities category; understands that the volunteer-run project sees its members work tirelessly across Renfrewshire picking up litter, transforming parks and public spaces and encouraging others to join in and think about their natural surroundings; praises everyone involved with this on what it sees as their steadfast commitment to improving the environment in the area's towns and villages; acknowledges that these awards celebrate innovative and effective responses to the major challenges that councils and their partners face and that each project was thoroughly scrutinised by the judging panel, which included a number of experts from across the media, local and national government, the Parliament and the private sector; commends all of the other finalists in the category for their dedicated commitment to their communities, and sends its best wishes to all at Team Up to Clean Up.

That the Parliament recognises the veterans who served in the Ministry of Defence atmospheric nuclear test programme in the 1950s and 1960s; understands that 22,000 veterans took part in the programme, of which, around 1,500 survive today, including Ken McGinley, a prolific campaigner for veterans, from Renfrewshire; acknowledges that a 1999 health study of these veterans found that 39% of veteran's children were born with serious medical conditions, that partners of veterans were three times more likely to suffer miscarriage, and children were 10 times more likely to have a birth defect; understands that the UK is the only nuclear power to deny special recognition and compensation to its test veterans, and notes calls for compensation and an investigation into how future generations of these veterans may be affected.
