OptoSci’s current products and activities include:
Photonics Educator Kits:
Comprehensive and fully self-contained laboratory based teaching and training packages in optics, optoelectronics and optical communications for universities and colleges.
Photonics Instrumentation:
Specialist design and manufacture of a range of photonics instruments and OEM sub-systems for industrial and R&D applications (i.e. laser diode drivers, TEC controllers, photoreceivers, etc).
Gas Sensing Systems:
Novel laser based gas sensing technology for industrial measurement, safety and environmental monitoring applications.
R&D:
Ongoing internal and collaborative applied research programmes to develop innovative optical sensing and control systems for other industrial measurement, alarm and control applications.
Background:
OptoSci was established in 1994 in Glasgow by leading academics and engineers from Strathclyde and Heriot-Watt Universities.
Since then it has grown to become a key internationally recognised producer of photonics education packages and optoelectronic sub-systems with 70% of sales exported worldwide.
In addition, the Company’s ongoing internal research programme has led to the development of ‘OptoSniff’, an innovative gas sensing technology which has generated significant interest from the industrial measurement, safety and environmental sensing markets.
Currently OptoSci is partnering with a number of operators and end-users in these global markets to adapt the OptoSniff technology for their particular applications and offer the partner an innovative optical sensing solution which provides: significant product performance, operation, and differentiation benefits; improved process safety or control; increased financial returns.
