Using the GSi-Platform, GSi has taken to market its first product called GSi-Carbon which processes satellite and other data to monitor the amount of carbon that’s stored in, and absorbed by trees and vegetation. So in simple terms, GSi-Carbon can identify how much timber is in a forest, it can monitor tree growth rates, and identify deforestation or forest degradation.
The data covers the entire surface of the planet from the present year back to 2001. This is a huge leap forward in terms of big data analytics and it the first time in the field of science this has been achieved. The GSi-Carbon product has a niche focus targeted at forestry and forest carbon projects and GSi is looking for a dedicated individual to help take this novel service to market. There is a £35b existing market for this data and all GSi-Carbon does is provide this data, cheaper, fast and better than is possible by traditional means.
