Our new guide, Working safely during COVID-19, offers social service workers information and advice about changes to the way we work as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. 

Our new resource, Safe use of medication during the COVID-19 pandemic is a quick guide for new social service workers and people who are supporting the learning of others working in care homes and in people’s homes.

A number of resources are now available to support care homes identify factors that may impact on the health, safety and wellbeing of residents as a result of COVID-19.

The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) has developed a new leadership resource to help people in social services reflect on and develop their leadership capability and that of others, particularly during the COVID-19 period. 

We’ve developed a new guide COVID-19 Key measures for infection prevention and control for social care workers providing care in an individual’s home.

In a normal year, Higher National Certificate (HNC) candidates are required to undertake a minimum of 60 days on placement. When the COVID-19 restrictions were put in place, most candidates would already have undertaken a range of placements prior to the start of the graded unit.

We’ve produced a new online adult support and protection quick guide to support social service staff who have been rapidly inducted or redeployed to support frontline services.

The SSSC is the Sector Skills Council and regulator for social services in Scotland. We recognise the challenges the COVID-19 pandemic presents to services and the impact on gaining benchmark qualifications.
