Biography

Overview

I moved to Aberdeen in 2004 and quickly became part of the community, joining the Aberdeen 100 Round Table and the St Fittick Rotary. I've also been active across numerous sports and social groups. At the same time, I was a practising employment lawyer, and furthered my education through Open University and other professional accreditation.

What motivated you to become an MSP?

I've always had a healthy interest in politics, but upon the arrival of my daughter, I felt I had to do more than shout at the TV. It prompted me to look at the Scotland that she would be growing up in, and I wanted to make a positive difference.

I joined my party's local association and was elected as chair, playing a leading role in the "No" campaign in Aberdeen for the 2014 Independence Referendum.

I was elected to the Scottish Parliament in the 2016 elections.
