Tackling Problem Debt Group
Overview
This group has been established in response to the Scottish Government taking responsibility for levy funded debt advice from October 2018. In the coming months, supported by the work of the group and wider stakeholder feedback, we will outline our immediate plans for the use of levy funding.
We propose to publish a debt routemap later this year, which will outline the vision for and steps to achieve a sustainable, effective and user-centred debt advice system in Scotland by 2025.
The group will play a key role in shaping the routemap. In particular the group should support:
- evidence gathering, analysis and consultation to understand strengths, weaknesses, challenges and opportunities of the existing system
- development of a long term vision to build a system that is user driven, efficient and effective
- development of practical steps to make the vision a reality
