Biography
Overview
I became a regional MSP for West Scotland in 2016, after entering politics in 2012 as a councillor for the Argyll & Bute area. I studied at Glasgow College of Technology and Aston University, and worked in marketing and business development before serving in the Armed Forces. Helensburgh has been my home for many years.
What motivated you to become an MSP?
I've always been interested in politics and wanted the opportunity to improve people's lives. After working first in business and then in a military career overseas, I wanted to use this experience in my political career, to help others in my region.
Becoming a councillor for the Lomond North area was my first step in doing this. My favourite part of being an MSP is working directly with people in the local community every day.
I enjoy meeting people of all ages and listening to their concerns, so that they have a voice and can see change happen.
