The Human Resources (HR) Office is responsible for providing a full range of human resource services for Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) and their staff.

This temporary role is to support our Members’ Services team in the run up to next year’s Scottish General Election, and in the period after.  A key aspect of the role will be to support MSPs who are standing down with the consultation process for staff affected by this decision and managing the redundancy process on behalf of MSPs who are not returned.  You’ll also have the opportunity to support new MSPs in developing their office structures, helping them advertise, recruit and induct their staff.

The run up to an election and especially the period after is an incredibly busy time for the team.  We already know that a number of MSPs are standing down and others may not be returned, so you will be supporting multiple redundancy processes at any one time.  This will involve working autonomously, accurately, and at a fast pace, whilst all the time recognising the sensitivity of the situation for MSPs and their employees.  You’ll also be advising a large number of new MSPs about their role as an employer, helping them establish what support they need, recruit effectively and providing day to day advice.  There will be a greater volume of new MSP staff starting and you’ll also be supporting provision of their induction and development programmes.

The start date for this role will be September 2020.
