Remit
ParliAble is the disability staff network, it is open to Parliament staff, Members and Members’ staff that will seek to explore disability issues for all those that work at, visit or engage with the Scottish Parliament, whether at Holyrood, local offices or any other location, including online.
The remit is two-fold:
1) To champion disabled people and to help them and the organisation get the most from their engagement with the Scottish Parliament.
2) To help the organisation ensure that people with disabilities (both visible and invisible) can be as open about their disability as they want to be
Responsibilities
The network will achieve its remit by:
• Holding disability information/story sharing sessions that will be open to all
• Developing and delivering briefings for line managers to help them in supporting their disabled staff
• Working with others in the organisation to support policy and process development
• Seeking out opportunities for the organisation to use ParliAble as a sounding board for proposed strategy
• Working with the wider organisation in developing support structures for people who are newly diagnosed or who are facing particular challenges.
• Helping the Parliament in improving the working environment for disabled people at Holyrood and at Local Offices.
• Supporting disabled employees in developing their careers
• Seeking out internal and external resources and expertise to ensure we can direct those in need in the most helpful way.
• Looking at upcoming business of the Parliament and highlighting areas of particular relevance to disabled people.
Our Values
We will consistently respect the privacy, confidentiality and dignity of all persons who come into contact with ParliAble and ensure, at all times, we are aligned with the overall values of the Parliament.
