First Minister Nicola Sturgeon was one of the main attractions at the Beyond Borders International Festival in the Scottish Borders.

Staged at Traquair House in Innerleithen, the First Minister was in conversation with journalist with Allan Little in a session titled ‘An Audience with the Most Influential Woman in Britain.’

A number of topics were covered before the floor was opened to questions from the 300 strong audience.

The First Minister also helped to launch the Women in Conflict Peace Initiative which seeks to highlight and capture the experiences and diverse roles that women play in conflict.

The First Minister said about the initiative:

It highlights the different experiences of women in times of war and oppression. Moreover, it actively supports their role in peace-making by training eight women from affected regions in methods of conflict resolution.

She went then went on to meet a number of volunteers and festival goers in the grounds on what was a fine summer evening!
