Remembrance Sunday 2016

14 November 2016

The First Minister was in Edinburgh on Sunday, November 13 to pay her respects to servicemen and women across the world who lost their lives in battle.

She laid a wreath on behalf of the people of Scotland at the Stone of Remembrance at Edinburgh’s City Chambers at the National Service of Remembrance.

The event, which was been organised by Legion Scotland, was attended by Regimental Associations, military chiefs, emergency services and members of the public to pay respect to those who have fallen in conflict.

The First Minister said:

Remembrance Sunday is an opportunity for all of Scotland to join with others right across the world and commemorate those who made the ultimate sacrifice in conflicts during the last century and more recently.

“It is a chance to honour the memory of those who lost their lives, while also paying tribute to our veterans and those who continue to serve today.

“The laying of a wreath is a small but significant tribute, and I am privileged to do so today on behalf of the people of Scotland.”
