This indicator measures the proportion of employees aged 16-64 who reported receiving job related training within the last 3 months.

The data for this indicator are gathered through the Annual Population Survey (APS). APS is the largest annual household survey in Scotland and provides information about individuals' personal circumstances and their work. It is carried out by the Office for National Statistics.

The measurement is based on an estimate of the number of people who have reported receiving job related training within the last 3 months.
The current confidence interval around the estimate from the APS is ±0.7%.
Definitions
The number of people in employment in Scotland consists of people aged 16 years and over who did one hour or more of paid work per week and those who had a job that they were temporarily away from. Employees are those who are in employment and are paid a wage by an employer for the work that they do.
Employees who reported that they have received job related training are those aged between 16 and 64 who have taken part in education or training connected with their job and which has taken place within 3 months of the survey reference date.
Criteria for Change
This evaluation is based on:
- Any difference within +/- 1.0 percentage points of last year's figure suggests that the position is more likely to be maintaining than showing any change.
- An increase of 1.0 percentage points or more suggests the position is improving;
- A decrease of 1.0 percentage points or more suggests the position is worsening.
