This year’s theme is Share a Story, which aims to encourage people to “take 10” and recognise that reading with a child for only 10 minutes a day can have a positive impact on a child’s outcomes.
The First Minister said:
It is no secret that I love reading and World Book Day is a great excuse to take some time to sit down with a good book. This year’s theme to ‘share a story’ highlights the importance of reading to improve children’s literacy and attainment. Just ten minutes of reading with a child can make a huge difference to their outcomes and will also develop their love of reading.”
