Why not consider an opportunity to work as a Healthcare Scientist within Antimicrobial Resistance and Healthcare Associated Infection (ARHAI) Scotland, part of National Services Scotland, we work in partnership to deliver Health Protection services which enable and support a safer and healthier Scotland.

We are seeking a Data Management Officer, to work in the Antimicrobial Resistance and Healthcare Associated Infection (ARHAI) Group. The ARHAI Group leads and supports efforts to prevent healthcare associated infection by means of guidance development, surveillance, operational support and training, covering areas such as surgical-site surveillance, decontamination, microbiological surveillance, research and infection prevention and control. 

The post holder will play an important role in a range of activities to support the national programmes of work of their teams and to monitor surveillance or antimicrobial resistance data in Scotland.  The role will predominantly involve working with and managing data delivered through the Electronic Communication of Surveillance in Scotland (ECOSS) system, but will also include collecting, managing and reporting surveillance data from other routine and non-routine sources and liaising with key stakeholders including: Scottish Reference Laboratories, policymakers, NHS Boards, clinicians and other experts.

You will have an enthusiastic approach and excellent organisation skills; a primary degree in a scientific/clinical subject or equivalent experience in a role involving data management; training or experience in using databases, statistical and programming software such as R, SPSS and SQL; and good communication skills. You must be able to show initiative and prioritise work, manage your own workload and maintain high standards, with excellent attention to detail. You will be experienced in the use of Microsoft Office applications Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.  You will have a proven track record as a team player and be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. It is vital that you demonstrate the NSS values of working with respect and care, openness and integrity, to focus on our customers, demonstrate commitment to each other and excel and improve. Knowledge of the NHS and an interest in infectious diseases would be advantageous. The location of the posts will be Glasgow, however, due to COVID-19 working from home may be required.

We are recruiting for a Chief Executive for NHS National Services Scotland.

This new senior medical post has been created has been created to provide clinical and operational leadership for the delivery of the NSS Quality Improvement and Clinical Governance Framework and to fulfil NHS NSS’s commitment to embed Triple Value in all that it does. The successful candidate will report to the Deputy Medical Director and will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Dependent upon external funding this role will be combined with the role of Realistic Medicine Clinical Lead with the potential of up to another 2 PAs.

Lead Clinician – National Managed Clinical Network for Scottish Muscle Network (SMN)

Up to 3 years fixed term
1 PA per week

In line with Scottish Government Health and Social Care Directorates guidance, National Services Division (NSD) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Lead Clinician for the Scottish Muscle Network (SMN).

This is a key strategic role in promoting and driving forward the development of an effective, integrated, multidisciplinary service for children, young adults and adults affected by neuromuscular conditions as well as support for their families. In this sessional appointment the postholder will work closely with clinical and other stakeholders and NSD colleagues.

Applicants will be leaders in their clinical field with experience in the provision and development of services treating neuromuscular conditions. A proven record in leading change, ability to work across traditional organisational, geographical and professional boundaries and a demonstrable understanding of the ethos of managed clinical networks are essential.  

Applicants must have a current substantive role as an NHS Scotland employee and have the support of their Clinical Director for this post to be incorporated into their job plan. The employing NHS Board will be recompensed for the agreed sessional commitment on the basis of evidence of actual backfill costs incurred to release the individual to fulfil the Lead Clinician role requirements.
