24 December 2015

Seasonal greetings focus on party fun during card launch

Children from an Edinburgh primary school played a central part in First Minister Nicola Sturgeon Christmas video message this year.

The eight-year-olds from Forthview Primary have a starring role as they join in with the First Minister wishing everyone a very lively “Merry Christmas!”

The film was made at a children’s Christmas party hosted by the First Minister earlier this month and shows the children and the First Minister enjoying the festive fun.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said:

“The sound of excited children ringing round Bute House  was a wonderful experience and there was no better opportunity to join in with them to wish everyone a very happy Christmas.”

The film includes some behind-the-scenes footage taken on the steps of the First Minister’s official residence Bute House during the launch of the First Minister’s charity Christmas card which this year features the much-loved children’s book character Katie Morag drawn by celebrated writer and illustrator Mairi Hedderwick.

All sales of the cards will go to the four charities chosen by the First Minister and Mairi Hedderwick. They are: Enable Scotland, Children 1st, Books Abroad and the Scottish Refugee Council.
