Care Day

16 February 2018

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon joined Who Cares? Scotland in Glasgow for Care Day 2018.

“We get to know the success stories & we should never lose sight of that, we should never talk about CEYP as statistics or numbers…but work to ensure that these success stories are not the exceptions – they are the norm.” First Minister @NicolaSturgeon on #CareDay18 pic.twitter.com/14vOaNA2fs

Care Day is the world’s biggest celebration of children and young people with care experience and seeks to change attitudes on what it means to be care experienced.

Young people spoke about their experiences of being in care and Noel Anaya came all the way from California to share his experiences of the care system in America.

“I felt a new level of lonely in the care system…a system which failed me on its biggest promise – love and companionship.” @TabooleoN on growing up in care in California #CareDay18 pic.twitter.com/3JvTqqHn7y

“I have a theory that not growing up with your mum and dad, and the state intervening to become a parent, feels the same in your heart no matter what language you speak or where you are in the world.” – @CallumCares on #CareDay18 pic.twitter.com/6W9svBFljD
