Do you agree dedicated autism support would save hundreds of millions of pounds?

Could there be an audit of escapable costs within mental health to identify funding for autism support teams?

How much is needed to fund autism support teams?

The Autism Network Scotland's book An Ordinary Life Too, 2016, a guide document for the autism strategy, evidences the corrupt service practices to avoid and enforce prevention of, and the uncorrupt standards to meet, in delivering this.

There is no help for sufferers of autism when they leave school.

The current backlogs and lack of support is a false economy. Additional support is sought while there is no diagnosis.

I know two women with autistic sons, each of which is quite improperly detained in the State Hospital at Carstairs. In my opinion each should be living with support in the community and no doubt would be if that support existed. The treatment to which each has been subjected in the State Hospital, including the use of chemical restraint, has been inhuman or degrading. Unfortunately the Scottish Government approves the use of chemical restraint even though that is incompatible with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

There used to be an autism practioner and autism groups where I live. The practioner had regular interaction supporting our family, advising school and ran after school autism clubs. Now there is nothing. Schools don't have enough resource to support kids with ASD. Support is only given to those who have complex needs. Families are left unsupported and children are missing out in gaining vital social skills from the Clubs and also reaching their potential through lack of support.
