Principal Engineer

NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) provides a range of specialised systems and services, some of which are digital solutions, that enable NHS Boards to focus their efforts on delivering health improvement and patient care. Scotland has some of the best health service data in the world and we work in partnership with NHS Boards, hospitals, GP’s and Local Authorities to provide IT systems to support local decision makers and national policy and guidance
We seek a self-motivated enthusiastic Systems Developer to join our small established friendly developer team, who are supportive of each other on a day to day basis. The post could be office based or working at home so the candidate needs to be flexible to adapt to both of these options. You should keep up to date with new technology and frameworks. You will be involved in design, development, maintenance and support of the best possible solutions for new and existing software products used throughout Scotland.
Applicants should be educated to degree level in an IT related subject or have equivalent experience in a technical development role on large scale system solutions. You will have proven experience in a technical IT role, with strong experience in building Office 365 solutions including Power Apps and Power Automate (Flow) You will also have experience with:
• SQL Server (including complex SQL stored procedures)
• NoSQL databases
• JavaScript, JQuery and Web Services
• Agile methodologies
• C#
• ASP.Net and MVC
Experience with Azure DevOps, front end frameworks and container technologies would be desirable
You will have excellent inter-personal skills and be able to work with health professionals in NSS, NHS boards and Local Authorities. You will be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills, and a high degree of accuracy. The ability to maintain strict confidentiality is essential.
You should have the ability to work across many different projects with different priorities, managing the conflicting demands that this entails, negotiating and influencing customers and suppliers in terms of timescales and deadlines.

HR People Solutions and experience are a team within the Human Resources and Workforce Development Department, who aim to provide an excellent service in all aspects of employment, from prior to commencement of employment and throughout the employment lifecycle of all staff. The vacancy and candidate:
We are looking for an HR Advisor with excellent communication skills, written and verbal, combined with excellent organisational and time-management skills to join the Case Management team. The individual should also have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and possess good decision-making skills.
The successful applicant should also be able to advise on and, where appropriate, support managers and SBU Directors in the management of highly sensitive and complex matters relating to conduct, grievance, bullying & harassment, capability and performance issues. This includes participation in investigations, formal disciplinary and grievance hearings and appeal where there is a reliance on the post holder’s professional expertise to inform decisions regarding outcomes providing options and highlighting associated risks at each decision point, taking into account employment legislation, best practice and the need to ensure fairness and consistency of approach
The post will be within the Case Management team within HR People Solutions and Experience.
It is, therefore, essential that the postholder has a comprehensive understanding of human resources practices, has significant HR experience and has a professional, confident approach. It is also crucial that the individual has robust influencing and communication skills and has a strong customer focused approach, balancing the needs of the customers with the requirement to adhere to terms, conditions, policy and process.
The ability to work as part of a team is also essential, with the postholder being an adaptable, willing and conscientious. Experience of managing or supervising staff is required.
The postholder will also contribute to the ongoing continuous development, delivering a customer focused service across the wide range of services our team provides, leading on specific development work or projects.
The postholder should be educated to degree level or have equivalent HR experience. He/she should hold or be working towards a CIPD qualification.
The post can be based in Edinburgh or Glasgow, but travel to other NSS sites to attend meetings will be required.

The customer support desk team forms part of the Cloud Engineering & Operations function which supports NSS & external stakeholders through a modern infrastructure. There is also a requirement to participate in a rota for out of hours’ support. The post will be predominately office based.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Senior Technician with excellent communication & customer service skills to provide first-line support, supervision and act as deputy for the team manager. People skills are important. Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Windows 10, Microsoft O365 and basic hardware and software diagnosis. Experience of ServiceNow would be an advantage though training will be provided.

The role of the SNBTS Quality and Regulatory Compliance Directorate is to develop and deliver a GMP compliant Quality Management System throughout SNBTS, which satisfies regulatory requirements whilst ensuring a high quality, efficient transfusion process from donor to patient. Members of the SNBTS Quality Team require to be forward thinking with the drive and self-motivation to relish a challenge.
A vacancy has arisen within the Quality and Regulatory Compliance Directorate, in the Quality Systems Team for the post of Audit Manager. The post is based in the Jack Copland Centre, Edinburgh although there will be a requirement to visit other SNBTS Centres and Sites as part of the role of the Post.
Applicants for this Post should hold an Honours Degree in a scientific , biomedical or clinical discipline and have experience of working to the requirements of a Quality Management System in a regulated GxP environment such as Transfusion Service delivery or commercial pharmaceutical or device manufacture. A post-graduate qualification such as a MSc would be an advantage.
Currently there is no routine requirement for “out of hours” or shift working for this post.

We are looking for a NMC/HCPC Registered practitioner to join our SNBTS Transfusion Team to promote the safe and appropriate use of blood and blood components through the development of national programmes of education, associated quality improvement and clinical effectiveness initiatives. You will be one of the named Transfusion Practitioners for NHS Lothian and will work closely with NHS Lothian staff. You will also work with colleagues across the east region (Borders and Fife) as required and nationally as part of the wider SNBTS transfusion team. You should be able to work with limited supervision and demonstrate flexibility in delivering the requirements of the post. Excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to adopt a flexible and proactive approach to problem solving is required to promote and champion this national programme at all levels. Candidates should have considerable experience in a blood transfusion, haematology or related specialty.
Candidates should be educated to degree level or equivalent experience and should have extensive clinical transfusion experience. You will be required to travel between NHS sites and Higher Education Institutes in order to fully undertake all the duties associated with the post and as such a valid driving licence is desirable. The post-holder will be responsible for supporting safe transfusion practice and maintaining good communication channels across NHS Lothian as well as supporting other areas covered by the SNBTS Transfusion Team east region. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme Disclosure check. As a vital part of NHS Scotland, NHS National Services Scotland’s purpose is to support Scotland’s Health. We do this by providing a range of specialised support services that enable NHS Boards to focus their efforts on health improvement and delivering world class patient care.The core purpose of the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service is to meet the transfusion needs of patients in Scotland. In support of this, the SNBTS Tissues, Cells and Advanced Therapeutics (TCAT) Directorate is committed to a programme that will enhance the service provided to NHS Scotland in both clinical and operational areas, through the provision of a range of tissue, cellular and advanced therapy medicinal products. SNBTS also undertakes research and development which is designed to support the strategic and operational priorities of the organisation, achieve high quality and impact and add value to broader NHS and Governmental objectives.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the SNBTS TCAT Directorate as the Head of Operations for the service. The successful candidate for this new post will be integral to the efficient running of this service at the Jack Copland Centre and other sites in Edinburgh, with specific responsibility for operational activities pertaining to TCAT projects. The post holder will have a variety of responsibilities including budgetary management, liaison with external customers and collaborators, delivering internal and external projects to strict timelines, and building an effective project management team.
The successful candidate must be educated to post graduate level in bio/biomedical science and have extensive competence/experience in programme or project management. In addition, the post holder must have significant experience of managing a team and experience in a GMP environment would be highly desirable. The ability to oversee multiple projects concurrently and motivate an interdisciplinary team to deliver a complex service is also essential.
