A83 TARBET TO INVERARAY RESURFACING 

Commencing Sunday 1st November 2020 for six weeks.

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are planning to carry out essential carriageway maintenance works on the A83 between Tarbet and Inveraray. The works are programmed to commence Sunday 1st November for six weeks. Please refer to the below for working hours for each respective site.

A83 Butterbridge to Dunoon Jct Sunday 1st November – Monday 23rd November (17 nights) 1900hrs – 0700hrs Convoy System 

A83 Cairndow North Jct Tuesday 24th November – Monday 30th November (5 nights) 1900hrs – 0700hrs Convoy System 

A83 Drishaig to Strone Tuesday 1st December – Thursday 3rd December (3 nights) 2015hrs – 0700hrs Road Closure with diversion 

A83 North of Strone Point Sunday 6th December (1 night) 2015hrs – 0700hrs Road Closure with diversion 

A83 Oyster Bar Tuesday 8th December – Thursday 10th December (3 days) 0700hrs – 1900hrs Convoy System 

A83 South of Succoth Friday 11th December – Monday 14th December (2 days) 0700hrs – 1900hrs Convoy System 

Due to restricted road widths at this location, the A83 will be closed as a through route in both directions between Tuesday 1st December to Sunday 6th December during the hours of 8.15pm and 7am, to ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the public. 

A signed diversion route, will be in place via the A82, A85, and A819, adding an additional 26 miles / 35 minutes to the journey for road users travelling between Tarbet and Inveraray. 

There is a height restriction on the A819 for vehicles exceeding 15’0”. 

Vehicles exceeding this height should advance to the closure points where they will be stacked until the road is reopened again. 

Amnesties will be in operation every two hours at the following times:
10pm, 12am, 2am, 4am and 6am. 

Access for emergency services will be maintained at all times. 

To ensure the safety of both the work force and travelling members of the public, the carriageway will be subject to a 10mph convoy system.
Outwith working hours the traffic management will be removed however, a temporary 30mph speed limit will remain in place, as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface. 

The safety of members of the public and maintenance workers remains a top priority during this resurfacing project and strict physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government guidance, will be in place to ensure pedestrians, travelling public and on-site personnel remain safe throughout the duration of the project. Robust risk assessments have been completed to ensure all staff are kept safe.
