The qualifications required for registration across a range of care professions in Scotland are Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQ’s). They are based on national standards of competence set by people across the care sector, including employers, people who use services and the UK skills council for the care sector. They are called National Occupational Standards (NOS). If you use a non-UK qualification to show that you meet the qualification requirement for registration, we must assess it against the NOS.
