WEBSITE ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT
We are committed to making all of our key services easily accessible to everyone. Our website, www.sccrc.co.uk, is primarily an information site, providing information on who we are and what we do. The site also provides a useful archive of materials in respect of our key policies, procedures, decisions, standard documents and past reporting information.

Our website is not an interactive site and is not used to provide our key service. Users can however download an application form from the site and submit this manually.

Our website has been designed to take account of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 and any identified accessibility issues will be taken forward in order to achieve at least level AA compliance with the guidelines. Our website is hosted on our behalf and all updates and changes will be made with the input from the host.

HELP WITH ACCESSIBILITY

The website has been designed so that users can easily change the way the site is viewed. This includes using your browser to change features such as colours, contrasts, display sizes, navigation and using screen reader software.

AbilityNet provides advice on making your device easier to use and a step by step guide to changing browser settings is contained within My Computer My Way.

HOW ACCESSIBLE IS THIS WEBSITE

Where possible we aim to make our website text as clear and concise as possible and provide website features which make the site more user friendly. There are however a number of parts on the website where accessibility can be improved and these are set out within the WCAG compliance section of this report.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION ABOUT THIS WEBSITE’S ACCESSIBILITY

SCCRC is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications)(No.2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

The website is partially complaint with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below:

Some images do not have a text alternative.

Some form fields do not have a valid label.

Some elements do not allow text resizing without loss of some functionality.

Some links are not well defined and open new windows or frames without a warning.

Addressing these non-compliances has been slowed up as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it is anticipated that these, along with a number of good practice points, will be addressed by 31 March 2021.

Further work will also be undertaken in respect of future independent website tests and potential redesign, subject to affordability.

CONTENT THAT’S NOT WITHIN THE SCOPE OF THE ACCESSIBILITY REGULATIONS

As previously noted, our website is primarily an information and archive site and as such contains a high level of historic PDF documents – many of these are however fully accessible.

The accessibility regulations do not require us the fix any of these documents published before 23 September 2018. However, we plan on reviewing and updating these documents as part of a wider website review to be concluded by 31 March 2020.
