Procurement

As a public sector organisation, our main aim when it comes to procurement is to get the best value for money. We promote fair and equal competition, whilst also accounting for the wider economic, social and environmental responsibilities of our decisions (as detailed in the Scottish Government's Sustainable Procurement Action Plan). Making sure we get value that not only benefits our organisation, the community and the economy - but minimises damage to the environment too.

All current contract opportunities worth over £50,000 can be found at Public Contracts Scotland and any business wishing to tender for these opportunities must register there as a supplier. If you’re part of an SME, you might be interested in the Supplier Development Programme. It offers help on policies and how to effectively respond to public tenders.

We have a no purchase order - no payment policy. Suppliers are required to have received a purchase order before they undertake a commitment on behalf of VisitScotland.  

Our Conditions of Contract are an integral part of any VisitScotland Order and should be recognised and understood by all parties or providers of goods and services to VisitScotland.

As a public sector organisation, we also work hard to ensure we are managing our physical assets in the most effective way. This includes our office space, information centres and equipment.

One of the ways we are doing this is by transferring three former Information Centres to registered charities and who provide valuable services and benefits to their local communities.

VisitScotland has agreed to transfer ownership of three properties in Castlebay, Castle Douglas and Gatehouse of Fleet to three charities - Castle Douglas Development Forum (CDDF), Gatehouse Development Initiative (GDI) and Citizen’s Advice Bureau (CAB),

Our Regional Directors and Regional Managers have worked closely with these groups over several years and we recognise the excellent services they offer to their local communities. Our information team has also provided staff training to those groups who are delivering face to face information and retail services.

The purchase of these properties will allow the groups to invest further in their services, provide additional employment and business opportunities and further benefit their local communities.
