Visit of Chinese delegation

12 May 2018

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon hosted a Chinese Government delegation at Bute House in Edinburgh today, headed by Party Secretary of Beijing, Mr CAI Qi.

The meeting was an opportunity to build on Scottish-Chinese relations and follows the First Minister’s visit to China last month, when she undertook engagements in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong.

Nicola Sturgeon said:

When I undertook a series of engagements in China last month, I was struck by the warm welcome I received and genuine interest in Scotland.

“Therefore I was pleased to welcome Party Secretary of Beijing, Mr CAI Qi, and his delegation to Edinburgh. The visit provided an opportunity to reaffirm the strong relations that exist between the Scottish and Chinese governments.

“China is a priority country for Scotland’s international engagement and we look forward to increased cooperation in many areas, including trade, education, research, science, culture and tourism.”
