Welcome to this blended learning page designed around the topic of oral cancer, intended to provide an exploration of the patient pathway from diagnosis to treatment.

Aims and learning outcomes

The aim of this course is to introduce participants to the patient journey following a diagnosis of head and neck cancer and improve their theoretical skills and attitudes in order to effectively care for patients with head and neck cancer.

By the end of the learning session participants should be able to : 

 

  • Identify risk factors for head and neck cancers, their presenting signs and symptoms and subsequent diagnosis
  • Explain the impact of the diagnosis of head and neck cancer to the patient and their families.
  • Discuss the role of the Multi-disciplinary team (MDT) in the optimisation, and treatment of head and neck cancer.
  • Provide a detailed overview of the surgical and non-surgical treatment options in head and neck cancer
