Vicki Greig, Consultant Oral Surgeon

I currently work as a Consultant in Oral Surgery working in Aberdeen Dental Institute. In addition to the provision of clinical care, my current role involves setting up a new Specialist Oral Surgery service for NHS Grampian, development of an in house IV sedation service, and the teaching and training of core trainees and undergraduates.

Before working in Aberdeen I completed specialist registrar training in Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

In 2015 I became the first dental trainee in Scotland to be awarded a place on the Scottish Clinical Leadership Fellowship (SCLF) Programme. Throughout this year I predominantly worked with NHS Education for Scotland (NES) and the Chief Dental Officer and Dentistry Division within Scottish Government to build up a portfolio of work and experience focused around clinical leadership and management, continuous quality improvement, patient safety and the appraisal and development of medical and dental services within NHS Scotland.

I’ve been involved with the NES Leadership and Management programme (LaMP) as faculty since 2015, working with the team to redevelop the course, and design an inter-professional pilot of the course that we delivered in NHS Orkney.

In addition to delivering courses for NES, I work with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow to deliver postgraduate education opportunities to colleagues of all career grades and serve as a director for several of their courses.

Group work

  • Meet in your small groups with zoom, teams, phone etc to produce a report or presentation answering the questions set in the relevant groupwork task.
  • Use the supporting material for each task outlined with links below as a starting point.
  • Elect spokesperson/s for your group.
  • Spokesperson to send completed group presentation to NES admin M Cook prior to event.
  • As an individual, please explore the material for all tasks prior to our live session. It will greatly increase your participation in discussions on the day and aid your achievement of the learning outcomes.
