When you’re a member there’s so much to shout about. Free entry to our fantastic sites, ideas for brilliant days out, discounts in our shops and cafes - plus so much more.

History to shout about

Now that lots of our sites are safely reopening, it’s time to make the most of summer.

Whether you want an educational escape or just a weekly wellbeing boost, there are so many benefits that come with a membership, for you and all the family.

When you arrive at any of our sites, we’ll need to work together to make sure we’re all following the rules and staying protected. So you know what to expect when you get here, we’ve laid out what the measures will be below.

Book ahead and check travel guidance

We can only accept advance bookings (children under 5 also need a ticket). Please don’t travel to a site to gain entry without a booking already in place as we can’t currently accept walk up visitors. Before booking and making a journey to our sites, please visit the Scottish Government travel guidance to check for any travel restrictions.

Sites now open and opening soon

We're pleased to announce that some of our sites are now open, with safety precautions in place. Booking in advance is essential. There are also a number of sites reopening over the coming weeks and you can pre-book tickets now.

What to expect from your visit

  • Our staff have been trained in hygiene and social distancing and provided with the necessary PPE
  • Signage is on site to guide visitors, this may include one-way systems and where areas of sites are closed
  • We have introduced enhanced cleaning measures to make visitors feel comfortable while visiting
  • In line with Scottish Government legislation and guidance, face coverings are now mandatory for all visitors 5 years and over in any indoor/enclosed spaces at our sites including retail and catering areas
  • Some of our cafés are re-opening, please respect the 1m social distancing whilst enjoying refreshments and wear face coverings when you are not seated at your table
  • We are partaking in NHS Scotland’s Test and Protect measures

From standing stones to castle grounds, many of the sites in our care are now open to visit for free. Be sure to check a site has reopened before you travel. If you are visiting our unstaffed sites, please continue to follow government guidance, staying 2 metres away from other visitors, and bring your own hand sanitiser with you, to help keep everyone safe.

What you can do to help us

We want everyone to be able to enjoy our sites safely, and so we ask that you respect the following before and during your visit:

  • Before booking and making a journey to our sites, please visit the Scottish Government travel guidance to check for any travel restrictions
  • Plan ahead and check information on our website and social pages before you visit
  • Without a valid booking confirmation, we won’t be able to let you in. Members must also book and will need to bring their valid Membership Card
  • Please don’t visit if you have Covid-19 symptoms
  • Please do not expect all facilities to be open immediately. Like many places, we have a phased approach to re-opening while we work to make them safe
  • Children must be supervised at all times
  • Please respect the Government and site guidelines on social distancing and hygiene
  • If you are visiting one of our unstaffed sites, please stay 2 metres away from other visitors, and bring your own hand sanitiser with you
