My team has spent the last 18 months developing two &#8220;next gen&#8221; qualifications in Computing &#8212; HNC Computing and HND Data Science.<\/p>\n<p>We had hoped to pilot these prototype qualifications this month (August) but the exceptional circumstances in colleges last year prevented that. We&#8217;re hoping that things are better this year and there are volunteers to pilot these new awards from August next year (2022).<\/p>\n<p>The developments are being done in two phases. Phase 1 involves Computing, Engineering and TV, and phase 2 involves additional subjects. I&#8217;ve highlighted the Computing qualifications in the list below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Phase 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>HNC Computing<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>HND Computer Science<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>HND Data Science<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>HND Networking and Infrastructure<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>HND Software Development<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>HNC Engineering (Engineering Systems)<\/li>\n<li>HNC Engineering (Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Systems, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering and Instrumentation and Control)<\/li>\n<li>HND Engineering Systems<\/li>\n<li>HND Television<\/li>\n<li>HND Radio<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Phase 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>HNC Social Sciences<\/li>\n<li>HNC Fitness and Exercise (HND 2023\/24)<\/li>\n<li>HNC Accounts (HND 2023\/24)<\/li>\n<li>HNC Childcare Practice<\/li>\n<li>HNC Social Services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition to these SQA-led developments there will also be local (college) developments.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re looking for centres to pilot these qualifications (from August 2022). The application process (and <a href=\"https:\/\/view.officeapps.live.com\/op\/view.aspx?src=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.sqa.org.uk%2Fsqa%2Ffiles_ccc%2FPhase2NextGenPilotcentre%2520Application.docx&amp;wdOrigin=BROWSELINK\">application form<\/a>) is described on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sqa.org.uk\/sqa\/97984.html\">this webpage<\/a>.
