PDA Software Development is now live
The subject page for the Professional Development Award in Software Development (SCQF Levels 7, 8 and 9) was made live this morning. You can find out more about this new qualification on that page, such as its structure and how it is assessed. There is also a link to the Group Award Specification.
I’m pleased about how this suite of qualifications has turned out. They have a simple structure, they’re short (240 hours), sharply focussed (on coding), and flexible (you can mix and match units across levels). The component Units are clearly written and up-to-date. I think that these PDAs will be popular in centres over the coming years since they address an important (and growing) skills shortage (computer programming). There has already been a lot of interest from colleges, schools and other types of centre. It’s worth noting that PDAs can be delivered in schools as well as colleges; some schools have expressed an interest in the Level 7 award.
If you want to know more about this new suite of awards or contact Helen directly.
