The next stage is the production of\u00a0<strong>Assessment Support Packs (ASPs)<\/strong>. We have moved away from paper ASPs to a combined online and offline version. We still produce ASPs for new Units but we take out the knowledge part and offer that through <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sqasolar.org.uk\/mini\/27322.html\">SOLAR<\/a>, which is SQA&#8217;s e-testing system, leaving a stripped down version of the ASP, normally containing only the practical assessment(s).<\/p>\n<p>The training for the ASP writers for NPA Cyber Security and NPA Digital Literacy took place today in the Glasgow office. The focus of the training was writing objective questions for SOLAR.<\/p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.sqa.org.uk\/computing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/SOLAR-training.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-1533\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sqa.org.uk\/computing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/SOLAR-training-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"SOLAR training\" width=\"481\" height=\"271\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.sqa.org.uk\/computing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/SOLAR-training-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.sqa.org.uk\/computing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/SOLAR-training-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.sqa.org.uk\/computing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/SOLAR-training-600x338.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 481px) 100vw, 481px\" \/><\/a>\n<p>Instead of producing complete tests, the writers produce a specific number of questions for the <strong>item bank<\/strong>, which is then used to randomly generate tests (subject to certain rules). The training covers: writing items, peer reviewing items, and adding questions\u00a0to SOLAR.<\/p>\n<p>In total, the writing team will produce an ASP and an item bank for <strong>13 Units<\/strong>: three Units in Digital Literacy, nine Units in Cyber Security, and the stand-alone Unit entitled <em>Cyber Security Fundamentals<\/em>. The ASPs and item banks will be available to centres from <strong>30 November<\/strong>.
