Members of the Validation Panel must have had no involvement in the qualification development. A validation event is a meeting of peers (it&#8217;s not an inspection of a proposed award) with the aim of making it as good as possible.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday&#8217;s Validation Panel was convened by Professor Bill Buchanan of Napier University. Members included representatives of Police Scotland, employers, colleges, schools and SQA. The Qualification Development Team included representatives of schools, universities, and employers.\u00a0It was a constructive meeting. We had positive discussions about the aims of the awards, their contents, and progression.<\/p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.sqa.org.uk\/computing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/DSC_00752.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1347\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sqa.org.uk\/computing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/DSC_00752-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0075~2\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.sqa.org.uk\/computing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/DSC_00752-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.sqa.org.uk\/computing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/DSC_00752-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.sqa.org.uk\/computing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/DSC_00752-600x337.jpg 600w, https:\/\/blogs.sqa.org.uk\/computing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/DSC_00752.jpg 1302w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>\n<p>I was pleased\u00a0that our proposals were essentially accepted. The structure of the awards will be unchanged. The conditions relate to the component Units (these have still to be finalised) and the title of the awards (we wanted to use slightly non-standard titles). The recommendations were clarifications\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0Group Awards Specification.<\/p>\n<p>The conditions and recommendations will not take long to address.
