Candidate Data – Regulatory Impact Assessment
We are undertaking a regulatory impact assessment on the matter of approved awarding bodies holding candidate contact data.
In the last five years SQA Accreditation has dealt with a number of incidents requiring awarding bodies to contact current and past registered learners, incidents which have then went on to present us with issues, risks and concerns.
The survey has 12 short questions and we do not envisage that it should take long to complete.
More details on the background as to why we are doing this this can be found in the survey itself.
The survey will be open from 8 March 2021 at 09:00 until 31 May 2021 at 17:00.
Please can you take the time to complete the survey and submit it to us within the next 12 weeks.

Regulatory Principle Review 2020 Consultation
This consultation closed on 20 November 2020. The feedback is currently under review and the final Regulatory Principles will be made available in due course.
As it has now been over nine years since the introduction of our Regulatory Principles (RPs) we feel that the time is right to undertake a full review of the RPs in their entirety.
We last reviewed and consulted on the RPs back in 2014, which informed some changes at that time. We would like to do the same again now to ensure that the RPs remain fit for purpose and continue to meet the needs of all our stakeholders.
We have an internal project group set up looking at this review and during 2019 we ran a short questionnaire for stakeholders to provide their feedback and thoughts on the current 2014 version of the principles. This feedback resulted in a first draft of the revised RPs being presented to our Accreditation Committee, which has now been approved for formal consultation.
We would now like to ask for stakeholder considerations on the reviewed and revised RPs.
This consultation will be open for 13 weeks from 21 August 2020 at 09:00 until 20 November at 17:00.
Thank you in advance for your participation.
