I&#8217;ve had a few queries recently asking what&#8217;s happening.<\/p>\n<p>The good news is that Computing is now in the first phase of &#8220;HN Next Generation&#8221; developments &#8212; it was originally planned to be in the second phase. This is a good thing &#8212; to review the awards using the old design rules, only to revise them again, at a later date, using the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.sqa.org.uk\/computing\/hn-review-and-hn-next-gen\/\">new rules<\/a> would be wasted effort. The not-so-good news is that we can&#8217;t commence the review until HN Next Gen starts. That won&#8217;t be long. HN Next Gen commences in <strong>August<\/strong> when Computing and some other subjects (such as Engineering) will be in the first group of qualifications to use the new design rules.<\/p>\n<p>We carried out a scoping exercise last year (and consulted on its recommendations). As a result of that we will revise\/create the following qualifications:<\/p>\n<p>HNC Computing<br \/>\nHND Computer Science<br \/>\nHND Networking &amp; Infrastructure<br \/>\nHND Software Development.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve also created a Qualification Development Team (QDT) &#8212; so we will be good-to-go as soon as we&#8217;re given the green light.
