Data science is a hot topic these days and I&#8217;ve had lots of enquiries about the availability of an intermediate (Higher National) award in this area. There are already lots of graduate and post-graduate degrees in Data Science, and we&#8217;re in the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.sqa.org.uk\/computing\/second-meeting-of-qdt-for-npa-data-science\/\">process of creating an introductory qualification in data science<\/a> so this, potentially, fills a gap.<\/p>\n<p>I wrote &#8220;potentially&#8221; because scoping does not necessarily lead to development (one of the outcomes of scoping is <em>not to develop<\/em>). But it&#8217;s an important stage in development, if we do decide to proceed, because it outlines the size and nature of the required work. The development would also let us revisit the existing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sqa.org.uk\/sqa\/78715.html\">HNC Data Analytics<\/a>, which has been available since 2014 but has very low uptake. Any new award would replace that qualification.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s (very) early days for this development, and the first stage is to find someone who will carry out the scoping. So please <a href=\"http:\/\/mailto@ caitlin.boyle@sqa.org.uk\">let Caitlin know<\/a> if you&#8217;re interested in carrying out this work.
