R number

As per data published on 7 January, the latest R value in Scotland was estimated to be between 1.2 and 1.5.

New infections

As per data published on 7 January, the number of new daily Covid-19 infections for Scotland is estimated as being between 237 and 507 per 100,000 people.

Cases

In the last week, average daily Covid-19 cases have increased with 15,796 cases in the week to 7 January.

Deaths

Last week, there were 72 deaths involving COVID-19, an increase of 27 on the previous week.

COVID-19 hospital admissions

Weekly average hospital admissions have rapidly increased in the last few weeks with 129 average daily admissions in the week to 2 January.

A&E attendances

A&E attendance levels have decreased in the last month.

Excess deaths

Deaths are 13% below average levels for this time of year.

Emergency admissions

Emergency hospital admission levels have decreased in the last month.

Planned admissions

Planned hospital admission levels have fluctuated in the last month.

People avoiding contacting GPs

A substantial minority are reluctant to contact a GP practice at the moment for immediate non-COVID-19 health concerns.

Education

The percentage of school openings with pupils not in school because of COVID-19 related reasons rapidly increased in the week to 17 December to 6.8% .

Crisis grants

Scottish Welfare Fund crisis grant applications decreased by 7% in October 2021 compared to October 2020.

Crime

Recorded crime in November 2021 was lower than both November 2019 and November 2020.

Loneliness

Around half of people report feeling lonely.

Trust in Scottish Government

There are consistently high levels of trust in the Scottish Government.

Perceived threat to jobs

1 in 5 employees are worried about the threat COVID-19 poses to their job.

Transport

The number of people saying they are concerned about people contracting or spreading COVID-19 on public transport remains high.

Monthly Business Turnover Index (MBTI)

Business turnover in March is at a similar level to the same month last year.

Gross Domestic Product (GDP)

Scotland's GDP grew 0.2% in October.

Unemployment

Scotland's unemployment rate was 4.1% in August - October 2021.

Claimant Count

Scotland's Claimant Count was 149,700 in November 2021.
