Preventing infections in ambulance setting

Preventing Infections in Ambulance Setting resource provides essential information for the application of the Standard Infection Control Precautions (SICPs) for Ambulance Service staff.

Developed in collaboration with Care Inspectorate and Scottish Care and Health Protection Scotland (HPS).

This resource is part of the foundation layer of the Scottish Infection Prevention and Control Education Pathway

Pocket Book

The resource was specifically developed to allow Ambulance staff working in vehicles to access the resource via a tablet devise. The resource presents as an interactive pdf and allows staff to choose information when presented with common infection risks and reveals the "must do" SICP guidance that should be followed to minimise the risk of spreading infection to themselves, other staff and the person receiving care.  It also highlights key advice on factors "to consider" as part of the SICPs and identifies other factors that keep staff and those being cared for safe.

The resource is free to download and/or print from the link below:

The resource is provided direct via tablets by the Scottish Ambulance Service to all relevant staff, and on the Scottish Ambulance Service Intranet website.
