Committees
The Council has two types of committee: standing committees and working group committees. Standing committees are established on a long term basis to handle particular areas of ongoing work. Working group committees are established for a defined period of time and will generally focus on the development of a particular guideline, lasting only until this work is finished.
Working group committees
The Council currently has five working group committees.
Their work includes:
- engaging with stakeholders
- ensuring the Council has the knowledge & research it needs
- considering relevant policy issues
Standing committees
The Communications Committee promotes greater awareness and understanding of sentencing. Its work includes:
- producing and promoting sentencing material and resources
- facilitating engagement events
- responding to enquiries
The Research Committee facilitates research on a wide range of sentencing matters.
