The work of the Climate Assembly has been reported on across Scotland’s national and regional media, in both English and Gaelic and across broadcast, print and digital outlets. Coverage has been led by Assembly members sharing their experience and insights, as well as interviews with Evidence Group members and opinion articles by co-conveners. Editorial liaison has been carried out in-house by the Secretariat.
The launch of the Assembly’s interim report in March 2021 was featured extensively on BBC Radio Scotland news programming, BBC Reporting Scotland, BBC Alba’s An Là programme, and Bauer media’s regional radio stations including Radio Clyde, Radio Forth and Northsound. The Assembly’s Statement of Ambition was published in The Scotsman as an opinion article.
The publication of the Assembly’s full report in June 2021 received in-depth coverage on STV’s flagship current affairs program Scotland Tonight. The launch was marked by a Zoom press conference with Evidence Group lead Prof. Ian Stewart.
The launch of the Civic Charter was widely reported and featured on BBC Radio Scotland’s Good Morning Scotland programme. Assembly members were interviewed by broadcast media during COP26, including a feature on Channel 4 News. An exclusive article in the Daily Record covering the Charter launch carried all 81 Assembly recommendations.
Media coverage was supported by an animated explainer video narrated by an Assembly member alongside one of the climate investigators with the Children’s Parliament.
