Role Overview
Responsible for arranging and managing the insurance protection of the company assets and liabilities, mitigating key risks facing the company and managing incidents reported and claims submitted effectively.
Functional Responsibilities/Key Tasks
· Identify current risks and liabilities within the company that require insurance cover and make recommendations for effective management of these risks;
· Undertake horizon scanning through various methods to identify potential risks that the company could face and may require insurance coverage for;
· Working with brokers and the wider business to gather and review renewal information for corporate insurance arrangements, together with managing policy additions and mid-term adjustments;
· Review and negotiate contractual insurance obligations placed on the organisation;
· Instruct broker to arrange and place appropriate insurance programmes to protect the organisation;
· Lead the complex policy renewal process to ensure that the company is getting value for money, with sufficient policy coverage;
· Working with the Finance Director to report to the senior management team on cover arrangements, premiums, recoveries and liability exposure;
· Manage the claims notification process to insurers so that the insurers have sufficient information to investigate claims;
· Monitor the effectiveness of the insurer's claims handling service. Ensure that claims are redirected to service providers wherever possible and ensure the terms and conditions of contracts are clear and robust;
· Identify areas for improved risk management practices within the Insurance Team;
· Identify and work with the organisation to create practices and procedures that ensure risks are managed effectively from an insurance viewpoint. Keep procedures up-to-date and ensure appropriate people are aware and able to follow the procedures as appropriate;
· Set strategy for insurance management within the organisation, produce clear guidelines and ensure adherence to the procedures, in conjunction with relevant teams;
· Review existing processes and implement enhancements to the insurance data recording systems which will involve liaising with key stakeholders;
· Resolve insurance queries from departments and third parties and provide advice to business on liability issues;
· Provide key responses to incidents reported internally requiring Insurance Team involvement.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Essential Criteria
· Good interpersonal and strong leadership skills;
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to inspire confidence at all levels across the company;
· Strong commitment to deliver results and make a meaningful contribution in a team environment;
· Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
· Clear evidence of successful management experience;
· Successful track record in a position of responsibility, handling insurance negotiations between clients, brokers and insurers.
· Demonstrates a well-organised and logical approach to work;
· Demonstrate extensive experience handling large projects and knowledge of policy wordings with an understanding of insurance business;
· Ability to analyse complex problems and structure issues for detailed resolution;
· Understanding of risk management and ability to persuade others to follow best practice;
Desirable Criteria
· ACII professional qualification (or equivalent);
· Practical knowledge of MS office applications to intermediate level;
· Ability to adapt to new IT systems and acquire a full understanding of the logic that sits behind them.
