Please be aware, in some circumstances, it can currently take up to 6 months to conduct an initial assessment for the most complex complaints. We are doing everything we can to reduce this time.

Accessibility policy

We are committed to making our services easily accessible. In designing our offices, our procedures and this website, we have tried to ensure that we are as open and accessible as possible.

Accessing our services

If you have specific needs, we will make reasonable adjustments wherever possible. You can tell us about your needs by contacting us. Please explain exactly what you need, and we will let you know what we can do.

Other languages and formats

We welcome enquiries and complaints in all languages.

British Sign Language (BSL) users can contact us by using Contact Scotland BSL.

This service is also available to people who are deafblind and use BSL.

We can also provide advice and information in other languages and formats (such as large print or Braille). Please tell us what you need.

Website accessibility

We are committed to making this website as accessible as possible. We have developed it following accessibility guidelines and aim to meet and where possible exceed level AA of the W3C’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.

You can find out more about web accessibility standards at the following web link: http://www.w3.org/standards/webdesign/accessibility (link is external).

If you have any issues with the accessibility of the site, let us know so we can continue to make improvements.

Using the website

You can change the size of the text and the colour contrast on the site using the controls at the top of every page.

Most web browsers allow users to change formats, fonts and font sizes. Different browsers, such as Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, have different methods for changing these settings. You will need to consult the 'Help' section on your browser's menu area to find out how to do this.

Our site is designed to work with screen-readers. Most of our publications are available in PDF and Word format. If your reader has any difficulties on the site or you require access to a PDF only publication, please get in touch and we’ll see what we can do.

Getting help

There are people who can help you make a complaint. You could ask a friend, a relative or an advocate. You can find out about advocates in your area by contacting the Scottish Independent Advocacy Alliance (link is external) or by calling the Citizens Advice Bureau (link is external).

Improving our accessibility

We are always looking for ways to improve accessibility. Please contact us if you have feedback or suggestions.
