The Economy, Energy and Fair Work Committee launched a call for views as part of its inquiry into Protected Trust Deeds (PTDs). The remit of the inquiry is to ascertain the benefits and disbenefits of PTDs as a viable debt solution in the interests of people in debt and their creditors and recommend if and how the Scottish Government and Accountant in Bankruptcy (AiB) should proceed in any reform of the scheme.
The AiB has prepared and submitted the following statistics for the Committee which provides additional analysis and information on PTD activity, that are not part of regular Scottish Quarterly Insolvency Statistics releases. It includes more detailed breakdown of debt level, duration, and outcome status.
These statistics are used internally by the AiB and the Scottish Government, and during stakeholder engagement to inform policy development. The Code of Practice for Statistics says that statistics producers must provide free and equal access to regular and ad-hoc official statistics.
