I like the default membership options in WordPress. But providing options to enable or hide some admin options according to their user roles is not available in WordPress.
There is the plugin available for this same task. Here is the Plugin: http://sourceforge.net/projects/role-manager/
But sometimes, it is not working efficiently.
I’m expecting this functionality inside the Admin panel without any additional plugins.

Most WP users would never need anything like this. Plugins handle this well enough for the small percentage that do.

Actually, if WordPress wants to position itself as a "real CMS" and not just a blogging tool they should consider this and other ideas to improve user control / user role management.

I agree with mahalie. If we want WordPress to be a real CMS, there's got to be better roles management. :)

This is a huge deficit of WordPress. User handling in general needs to be an integral part of the core product.

Of course this is important ! I know a lot of person who don't use WP because of that kind of "problems".

Agreed @mahalie. A real CMS would have a more sophisticated role management paradigm, allowing for cascading permissions.

I totally agree... If it is believed that most users dont need an in-built user role manager then in real sense there is no point in having various user roles at all. But I think it is very necessary to provide a user role manager using which accessibility of posts, pages and various actions like visibility, add, edit, delete, etc can be managed for various user roles and also with this a role selection should be given on the registration page in frontend (a drop down list will be preferable for this).

I concur. In addition to the existing admin options, the ability to show/hide pages and widgets based on user role would go a long way to moving WordPress away from being "just a blog" to more of a complete CMS solution.

They have good rating, too.
