Our work on
public standards
The Commissioner is an independent Officeholder who is responsible for investigating complaints about:-
- Councillors;
- Members of devolved Public Bodies;
- Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs)
who are alleged to have contravened their relevant Code of Conduct.

Our work on
public appointments
The Commissioner regulates the way appointments are made to the boards of Scotland's public bodies. The Commissioner:
- publishes a code of practice to be followed when making non-executive appointments to the boards of public bodies
- examines the practices used during appointment rounds with a view to ensuring they comply with the code of practice
- investigates complaints about the public appointments process
- monitors appointments with a view to ensuring they are made fairly and openly and that everyone who may be interested in an appointment has the opportunity to apply.

Calling all British Sign Language users!
We're seeking your views about our BSL plan.
This poster gives more detail about open events for British Sign Language users being held at the Scottish Parliament on Friday, 18 May and Saturday, 19 May.
There’s a page on the Scottish Parliament’s website that gives more details and that also includes a video with a BSL translation of what’s going to be involved.
Why not come along and meet the Commissioner and his team to find out more about the work of this office and the work of other SPCB supported officeholders. There's also a BSL translation explaining what the officeholders do.
BSL interpreting will be provided and a BSL tours of the Parliament is offered.
