ScotStat is a network for users and providers of Scottish Official statistics. It aims to improve communication amongst those interested in particular statistics and facilitate the setting up of working groups on specific statistical issues.

The Scottish Government consults users and providers of the statistics which relate to the Economy via the Scottish Economic Statistics Consultants Groups (SESCG).
There is also a sub-committee concerned solely with the development and use of Input-Output tables - the Input-Output Statistics Expert Users Group.
Economic Statistics produced by the Scottish Government have been independently assessed by the United Kingdom Statistics Authority. These assessments ensure that the statistics meet user needs, are produced, managed and disseminated to high standards and are explained well.
The UK Statistics Authority's Code of Practice for Official Statistics requires that each Government Department publish a series of documents in support of the eight principles and three protocols contained in the code.
