Scottish Policing Performance Framework
The Scottish Policing Performance Framework (SPPF) was first introduced across Scotland in April 2007. It is the product of significant collaborative working between the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland (ACPOS), the eight Scottish Police Forces, the Scottish Government, Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary for Scotland (HMICS), Audit Scotland, the Scottish Police Services Authority, COSLA and the Scottish Police Authorities Conveners' Forum.
The SPPF establishes a single suite of performance indicators which reflect the breadth and variety of policing activity across Scotland. The framework is intended to support managers throughout the police service in understanding, reflecting on and improving performance so that forces can provide more effective policing to communities. It is also intended to improve accountability at local and national levels through the publication of consistent and transparent performance information, which will support Scottish Ministers, police authorities, the general public and other stakeholders in their understanding of policing performance.
The framework is regularly reviewed, and where it is felt appropriate indicators can be added, or deleted. These changes are intended to make the framework more robust and meaningful to stakeholders.
Findings
The findings of the 2010-11 SPPF were publicly reported by the Scottish Government on October 27, 2011. An addenda and erratum are also available.
ACPOS also published their Annual Performance Report 2009-10, and technical notes, to coincide with this release.
The findings of the 2008-09 SPPF were publicly reported by HMICS on January 20, 2010.
The findings of the 2007-08 SPPF were publicly reported by HMICS on December 8, 2008.
