Meet Mechelle... she's a learning & development co-ordinator in our People team, who in 2020 has been raising funds for @WaterAidSNI helping bring the #GiftofWater to communities in Rwanda & Malawi & inspiring others in Scottish Water to take up the 5x5 challenge. She didn't let lockdown restrictions get in the way of her efforts & organised 55 local people to run or walk 5km every day for 5 days with donations supporting vital work to improve access to clean water, decent toilets and sanitation where it's needed. Mechelle said: "Since joining Scottish Water it’s opened my eyes to the amazing partnership with Water Aid and their vital work. I wanted to be a part of this and to make a difference to peoples lives. Water is essential for life and some people are just not as lucky as us." Mechelle's efforts spurred on other teams in Scottish Water to take the 5x5 Challenge to support WaterAid during lockdown. In 2021 she's set to sky-dive to raise even more funds. "I’m so excited for this as I know I’m doing something wild for an amazing cause and to make a difference."
